Where to spend a penny in Edinburgh this festive

Edinburgh at Christmas and Edinburgh Hogmanay (New Year) are now world-famous ‘bucket list’ must do’s for all ages.  Edinburgh, having just rested for a few weeks after the Festival and Fringe in the summer is buzzing again from late November right through till 4 January 2020.  Stalls, fairground rides, discos, carol signing, bands, bagpipes, shows, concerts – something for everyone.

But with that many visitors to Edinburgh, it’s handy to know the best places to go to eat, drink, be merry and have a pee!  Let us help you.  We supply some of the best venues across the City with washroom supplies – indeed our vans can often be found heading into the hot spots and nightclubs as revellers are leaving.  As during Festival time,  it’s hard work keeping Edinburgh’s toilets fully stocked but we plan ahead and it works!

Christmas Market and Waverley Mall

Most visitors to Edinburgh at Christmas spend some time in and around the glitter and glitz of the Christmas Market on Princes Street.  So spending a penny at The hostelries atop The Waverley Mall makes sense.  We supply  @TheButcherBoyGrill and @casksmugglers.  The Butchers Boy Grill tag line is “Meat & Beer”.  So guess what, it’s the place to go for a juicy burger and quenching beer to warm even the chilliest of revellers.   The Cask Smugglers on the same site has a range of tempting blends of cocktails to liven up any office party, friends trip to the City or just to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.

You just have to cross the road and visit Rose Street and stop into Scotts of Rose Street.  One of Edinburgh’s oldest pubs and certainly the oldest on Rose Street.  This venue is always busy and why not, when serving great ales and a huge selection of wines and spirits too.  Gents!  When you visit the washrooms you can practise your scoring skills with the urinal goals!!!!!

Music & Karaoke

Maybe your party is from one of the financial giants whose office are in and around Lothian Road and close to the EICC.  In that case, make your way down to Malones Irish Bar on Morrison Street @MalonesEdinburgh.  With a packed gantry of Irish Whiskies and much more, live music and sport, it’s a true taste of a busy city centre venue popular with locals as well as visitors.

So who’s up for a Christmas singalong and belt out all those renditions of cheesy favourites?  A stop off at one of the Supercube Karaoke venues is then a must.  Apart from George Street, Supercube have a new venue down the Cowgate. Fab fun!  After countless rounds of ‘Last Christmas’ take a break in one of their well-stocked washrooms!!!! Christmas Night out in Edinburgh definitely needs a Karaoke visit.

It’s no mystery

To finish off our Edinburgh centre travels, we are going somewhere where no website exists; no social media tarnishes its doors, only a literary heritage instantly recognised by lovers of crime fiction – The Oxford Bar on Young Street.  Not much chance of finding Rebus propping up the bar whilst pondering the underbelly of Edinburgh but you will be able to soak up the atmosphere and when you need to spend a penny, know it will be well stocked!

We do look after numerous other bars, restaurants, hotels and venues in and around Edinburgh including some really cool ‘local’ to their area venues such as Henricks up Bruntsfield and The Hermitage in Morningside.   We’d love to know which Edinburgh venue is your favourite and if they are a Caledonia Washroom venue!
